How Trump Won

In a political campaign in a free society, economic platforms are much more important to resonate with the populous than social platforms. For a social platform to work, there has to be a clear institutionalized prejudice, and right now, even in the midst of black lives matter and feminism, the majority of people still feel a bit too free. The way trump found support in the people is by finding a majority economic class and pitting them against the people above them (1%ers) and those below them (immigrants), and hinting at collusion between the two. Instead of saying something inclusive like "we are the ninety-nine percent," he spoke to people with an argument that could adapt to a larger area of the economic totem pole. He found enemies that all those individuals either disliked or didn't care about. As well, he found a way to say these economic enemies are colluding, which in and of itself is a uniter. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. The friend of my enemy is my enemy. African Americans should stop thinking the system is rigged against African Americans. It's actually just rigged against poor people. And while, yes, there are rich African Americans, there is still less money collectively in the African American population than there is in the white population.
