On Dallas
i've mentioned the phrase "political polarization" many times. i use it because it provides the basis of every political discussion i hear. it means people are on far ends of the political spectrum, radicalizing themselves as the advent of mass, immediate information allows. it means there is such a strong division in ideals that compromise and community are lost within the people. we segregate ourselves, lose empathy, choose the path of "out of sight", but not "out of mind" so we still choose to develop an opinion and hold to it like a principle. and the result of this is the people calling on leaders to fix problems the leaders aren't equipped to fix. not because they're bad leaders, but because the problems are ones that can only be fixed by preserving and embracing a sense of community within the people.
if we're looking to fail as a united community, we should rely solely on our handful of leaders to fix the problems of our society. if we want to see tragedies happen again and again, we need to only rely on our elected officials for answers. if we want to keep making the same mistakes, we should never change our way of thinking.
i'm not going to risk being political, i only care to be philosophical. so i'll finish. no matter your political affiliation, no matter your principles, those who accuse past present or future presidents of faulting when we see tragedies happen are escaping reality.
the stronger the division of ideals the less compromise and community exist within the people. more than enough reason not to radicalize yourself.
